Speaker Series

Part of the Foundation’s mission is to foster scientific, literary and educational interests among members of the Harvard Club of New York City and the broader NYC community.

The Foundation hosts events in conjunction with the HCNY Program Committee. Recent speakers/performers have included Roz Chast, Nicholas Kristof, and even Yo Yo Ma who was a Foundation Scholar graduating from the college in 1975. Thanks to generous contributions from alumni/ae, the Foundation has two funded speaker series:

The Annual Seligmann Public Policy Lectures: Thanks to a generous gift by the Herbert J. and Lise R. Seligmann Endowment, the Foundation annually welcomes one of the most compelling minds in Public Policy to the Harvard Club of New York to discuss his or her thoughts.

The George J.W. Goodman Lectures on Media & Global Affairs: This series has been made possible by the generosity from longtime member George J.W. “Jerry” Goodman ’52. As an extension of his distinguished career as an author, an award winning PBS television host, and an economist, Mr. Goodman’s endowed an exceedingly generous gift to support a special lecture series with a focus on various aspects of media, including social media, and their implications in the world today.
